Design Process

Bloom & Brew explored the development of a complete brand identity and digital experience. The aim was to create a cohesive café brand rooted in warmth, craftmanship, and personal touch, and translate that identity into a functional mobile ordering interface.

A central challenge was ensuring that visual storytelling remained consistent with usability, balancing a mascot-led personality with practical and scalable design systems.

Brand Exploration & Direction

Each logo sketch for “Bloom & Brew” was created with the core intent of visually merging the café’s two key themes: the aromatic, comforting essence of coffee and the natural elegance of botanical elements. Through variations of cups, steam, beans, flowers, leaves, and vines, each design explores a unique interpretation of the café’s identity—where nature meets nourishment.

​Altogether, the designs reflect a unified artistic direction: a cozy, modern boutique café where growth and grounding are served in every cup. The visual harmony of flora and brew ensures the brand essence is immediately felt—refreshing, welcoming, and thoughtfully crafted.

Logo Ideation

Some sketches emphasize minimalist line art to evoke simplicity and calm (e.g., Sketches 8, 11, and 14), while others highlight bold, emblematic motifs (e.g., Sketches 6.1, 6.2, and 13) that position the brand as confident and stylish. More whimsical or homey illustrations (like Sketches 10 and 12) suggest an inviting, tranquil space meant for leisurely moments.

The Chosen One

This logo is chosen as the final design because it elegantly captures the essence of Bloom & Brew café—a harmonious blend of nature-inspired freshness and artisanal craftsmanship. The typography, with its clean yet organic lines, reflects the cafe’s dual focus: "Bloom" evokes the vibrancy of flowers and natural ingredients, while "Brew" underscores the dedication to quality coffee and tea.

 

The minimalist approach ensures versatility and timelessness, making it suitable for everything from storefront signage to packaging. The absence of excessive embellishments aligns with the cafe’s commitment to simplicity, sustainability, and letting its offerings speak for themselves. The color palette would further enhance this identity — earthy tones for warmth, or botanical greens for freshness — reinforcing the cafe’s connection to nature and artisanal roots.

 

Overall, the design effectively communicates “Bloom & Brew” as a welcoming space where patrons can savor thoughtfully crafted drinks in an atmosphere that feels both refreshing and grounded

Visual System Development

Once the logo was established, a structured visual system was introduced to maintain consistency across the brand. This involved defining primary and display typefaces, creating a pastel-based color palette, and standardizing UI components for digital applications.

This system allows the brand to scale seamlessly across packaging, merchandise, and mobile interface experiences.

Digital Application

To extend the brand into a functional product, the identity was translated into a mobile ordering prototype supporting browsing, ordering, and loyalty engagement.

​

Wireframes were created to define navigation flows before refining the visual design.
